A significant part of this catalogue is regulated in transport. Ammonium nitrate above certain grades is an oxidiser; nitric and sulphuric acid are corrosive; anhydrous ammonia is a toxic gas. Each carries a UN number, a class, a packing group and a set of rules that differ between road, rail and sea.
We classify the consignment before it is offered, not after it is booked, and we arrange the movement under the regime that actually applies to it — ADR by road, RID by rail, IMDG at sea — with a dangerous goods safety adviser overseeing the file.
Where a grade requires a permit, an end-use declaration or a security plan, that requirement is identified at the enquiry stage. It is the single most common reason a fertilizer shipment is refused at a border, and it is entirely avoidable.
