Phosphate fertilizers
Ammoniated phosphates for base application and for blending into complex grades.
Phosphate is applied at establishment rather than in season, which makes it a logistics product more than an agronomic one: the tonnage moves in a narrow autumn or pre-sowing window and is stored for the rest of the year.
MAP and DAP also serve as the phosphate carrier in most bulk blends, so granulometry matters as much as analysis — a grade that segregates in the blender is worth less than its nutrient content suggests.
Grades
3 grades in this category
MAP — Monoammonium Phosphate
NH₄H₂PO₄ — 12-52-0
The densest phosphate available in a granular fertilizer at 52 percent P₂O₅, with a modest nitrogen contribution alongside it. Applied at establishment, where phosphate availability determines early root development.
Specification ↗DAP — Diammonium Phosphate
(NH₄)₂HPO₄ — 18-46-0
The most traded phosphate fertilizer in the world, carrying 46 percent P₂O₅ and a useful 18 percent nitrogen. Its price is the reference against which the rest of the phosphate market is quoted.
Specification ↗NPS / Ammophos grades
N-P-S, e.g. 16-20-12S, 20-20-0
Ammoniated phosphate with sulphur built into the granule, produced in a range of analyses to suit regional soil conditions. The sulphur addresses the deficiency that has become routine across European arable soils, without a second product and a second pass.
