Aggregates and construction materials
Crushed stone, gravel and sand to specification
A freight trade rather than a product trade. Aggregate is cheap per tonne and heavy, so almost the entire delivered cost is transport, and the commercial skill lies in matching parcel size to vessel and to discharge capability.
They also serve a scheduling purpose: aggregate fills tonnage on legs where the fertilizer flow runs one way, which is what makes the round trip economic on several of our corridors.

- Bulk density
- 1.35–1.60 t/m³ depending on material and fraction

- HS code
- 2517 / 2505 per material
- Transport status
- Not classified as a dangerous good
Classification, HS code and transport regime are confirmed per grade and per route at the offer stage. Figures below are indicative of the standard specification.
Packaging
- Bulk, in holds, hopper wagons, tippers and walking floors
- Big bag 1000 / 1250 kg for site delivery of smaller quantities
Storage and handling
- Open stockpiling is normal; segregate fractions to prevent mixing
- Protect fine fractions from wind loss and from contamination by soil
- Drainage under the stockpile — waterlogged material fails its moisture specification
Transport
- Unregulated for transport by road, rail and sea
- Loading rate and discharge capability decide the economics — confirmed before fixture
Documents
- Technical data sheet (TDS) — issued with the offer
- Safety data sheet (SDS) in the languages of transit and destination
- Certificate of analysis, lot-specific, drawn at loading
- Certificate of origin and EUR.1 where the destination allows preference
Documents are issued against a confirmed enquiry rather than published for download — an SDS is only meaningful for the grade and revision actually shipped.
