Ammonium Sulphate
(NH₄)₂SO₄ — 21% N, 24% S
Two nutrients in one salt: ammonium nitrogen and a large sulphur contribution. Since sulphur deposition from the atmosphere collapsed across Europe, sulphur deficiency has become a routine problem rather than an exotic one, and AS is the cheapest way to address it while applying nitrogen anyway.
It is acidifying in the soil, which is a drawback on already acid ground and an advantage on alkaline soils where micronutrient availability is limited by pH.
