SOP — Potassium Sulphate
K₂SO₄ — 50% K₂O, 18% S
Chloride-free potassium, with a sulphur contribution alongside it. It exists because a substantial group of crops — potatoes, tobacco, most fruit, vines and many vegetables — suffer quality loss when chloride accumulates in the root zone.
It costs materially more than MOP per unit of potassium. That premium is only worth paying where chloride sensitivity or a low salt index actually matters; on cereals it usually does not.
